My Hero Academia Episode 100

My Hero Academia is a superhero-shounen anime produced by Bones. With the inter-class competition between classes 1-A and 1-B over, it’s time for the students to prepare for what comes next in their training. But amidst the bustle of student life, some mysteries need solving in My Hero Academia Episode 100.

The struggles with quirks take center stage in the first half of this week’s episode. With All-Might as in the dark about the changes occurring in One for All as Deku is, the duo attempts to handle the evolving situation with some help from Bakugo. But with so little to go on, the trio struggles to make much headway with the problem.

While the mysteries surrounding One for All are pondered, Aizawa is also attempting to learn more about a difficult quirk. Enlisting the help of Monoma, Aizawa attempts to learn more about the powerful quirk wielded by Eri. If Monoma can duplicate her quirk, then it may be easier for Eri to learn how to utilize it without risking the near-fatal incident that occurred last season.

Seeing Eri in My Hero Academia Episode 100 is a wonderful treat. The child is such a perpetual ray of sunshine, despite everything she has been through. And if she has enough appearances, I might even manage to get through a scene where she is present without getting teary-eyed. But as the meme says: it is not this day.

The big focus of the remainder of this episode moves to Todoroki and Bakugo. It’s the day they and the rest of the students who failed their provisional license exam take their final test to catch up with their classmates. I always enjoy it when the show teams these two up. With Bakugo’s hyper-aggressiveness always front and center, Todoroki makes for a much cooler counter for him than Deku. The overall calm demeanor of the “Icy-Hot” hero contrasts Bakugo’s lack of volume control wonderfully. The icing on the cake for their time on screen is poor All-Might as he tries to keep up with the two despite no longer having his powers.

My Hero Academia Episode 100 delivers wonderfully with its visual presentation. As has been the case with most of this season’s episodes, a wide variety of emotions are displayed over the course of the episode. Happily, the episode manages to give them all their proper due. From Eri’s sweetness to Bakugo’s aggressiveness, and Monoma’s slightly unhinged cackling, every emotion lands with that slight over-the-top delivery the show always brings to the table.

The visual delivery for this episode doesn’t stop with its emotional displays, though. We also get to see some sizable action with Bakugo and Todoroki. The nature of their fight and how it plays out is an interesting display of super-powered mayhem.

Bringing it all together, My Hero Academia Episode 100 gives the viewer another wonderfully balanced episode. Whether you like the series for its charming characters or its cool action set pieces, this episode has something for you.

My Hero Academia Episode 100 is streaming on Funimation and Crunchyroll.
