Sales have far surpassed expectations from indie developer Edelweiss, previously best known for the acclaimed shoot ‘em up Astebreed, and publisher Marvelous Inc. Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin continues to garner critical acclaim and was one of the 10 highest-ranked JRPGs on Metacritic in 2020. To reach even more players worldwide, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin has been updated with language support for Latin American Spanish and Simplified Chinese.

Additionally, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is now available for PC through the Epic Games Store. To celebrate the milestone and new storefront, the game is getting its first discount on digital storefronts as it is now 30% off on not only Epic Games Store and Steam for Windows PC worldwide, but also on eShop for Nintendo Switch™ and PlayStation®Store for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system in North America, Europe, and Japan storefronts. Edelweiss has also updated the game across all platforms with a new feature: the ability to hold a dog and a cat at once! On top of that, your dog will now come running to greet you when you return home from adventuring. The update also includes myriad balancing adjustments and other improvements intended to keep seasoned players coming back for more.

“We’re thrilled that so many people have experienced Princess Sakuna’s many adventures, from the relationships she forms with her human and animal companions to the unique charms of traditional Japanese rice cultivation,” said XSEED Games Executive Vice President and rice enthusiast Kenji Hosoi. “We hope adding support for more languages and new storefronts, as well as fun additions from Edelweiss such as new ways of interacting with your pets, will entice more players around the world to experience her journey and the learn about the power of rice!”

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin launched in North America on Nov. 10, in Japan on Nov. 12, and in Europe on Nov. 20, 2020, for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Nintendo Switch™ system, and Windows PC via Steam. The title has received an ESRB rating of “T for Teen” by the ESRB for all platforms.

The title is available with a standard digital edition on the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation®Store, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store for $39.99, and with the digital deluxe version on the PlayStation®Store and Steam/Epic Games Store available for $49.99 and $54.99 respectively, all currently on sale at 30% off through early July. Standard retail and limited “Divine Edition” versions are available for the PS4™ system and Nintendo Switch™ system on the XSEED Games Store and participating retailers.
