Revenant Hill — But Why Tho

FINJI, the indie publisher behind award-winning titles TUNIC, Night in the Woods, and Chicory: A Colorful Tale, announced their new upcoming game: Revenant Hill. Developed by The Glory Society, a worker-owned co-op whose members worked on titles such as acclaimed Night in the Woods, Stereophyta, and Doom (2016), Revenant Hill is a narrative adventure game with farming elements, where you strive to build an egalitarian community.

Set in the year is 1919 a barn burns down. In Revenant Hill, you play as Twigs, the inhabitant of said barn who also turns out to be, a cat.  As Twigs, you take up residence in a wet log near an abandoned graveyard. When the owl from the next hill over starts demanding rent, Twigs must find a way to make ends meet, and things just get more complicated from there.

Times are hard, making ends meet is harder, and the world doesn’t stop at the edge of the graveyard. Something big and dark is at work in the towns, the factories, the forests, and the hills. At some point, someone is going to have to push back. And they can’t do it alone.

Grow crops. Watch the seasons pass. Create a community. Make enemies and host ambitious parties for witches and demons while you get tangled up in a world in the midst of violent change, and so much more.

The Glory Society is a worker-owned and operated cooperative that makes video games. No bosses needed. Founded in 2019 by Bethany Hockenberry and Scott Benson, 2 out of 3 co-creators of the critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning game Night In The Woods. Other members include Coby West, John Wilinski, Seyoung Jang, Ali Aya, and Kas Ghobadi.

The project is in development for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, with a release date to be announced some time at a later date.
