8 ‘Like a Dragon’ Party Members As ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ Classes

With the release of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, a massive class-based RPG with turn-based combat featuring a variety of well-rounded and lovable characters, I was reminded of another game with a similar description: Baldur’s Gate 3. Much like with Disney Dreamlight Valley in our previous list, I got to thinking about what classes the many Like a Dragon party members would take if they suddenly found themselves transported to Faerun.

Ichiban Kasuga as the Champion Fighter

Ichiban is one of the main protagonists in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. He’s a pretty straightforward guy with an optimistic mindset, but he can hold his own when he has to fight. As the Hero job, most of his abilities revolve around using his bat to inflict heavy damage, so the Champion Fighter feels like the best fit. In essence, he’s just really good at hitting stuff (which is basically the Champion subclass motto), forgoing fancy magic or battle techniques to ensure every attack counts. Plus, Ichiban really wants to be a standard fantasy hero, so the Fighter fits the bill.

Kazuma Kiryu as the Monk

Kazuma Kiryu

Kiryu is fairly stoic, rarely showing any hint of emotion. Unless that emotion is anger, in which case you better look out. When—not if—words fail to resolve an encounter, Kiryu is quick to let his mighty fists do the talking for him. Naturally, the Monk class seems to align with Kiryu’s natural tendencies, even if Monks aren’t especially known for crushing their enemies with a nearby bicycle or traffic cone. We’re not sure if tattoos can be applied to scales though, so his famous back tattoo will have to go. He is a dragon though, so I’m sure he won’t mind.

Saeko Mukoda as the Life Cleric

Saeko Mukoda

In Japan, Saeko’s default job is the Barmaid. With her suspiciously heavy bag and some magic champagne bottles, Saeko’s attacks pack a wallop while her abilities can apply negative status effects to her enemies. One of her ultimate skills even revives a fallen ally, making the Cleric a natural fit for Saeko. Her combination of offensive and restorative magic, in addition to her physical prowess, aligns perfectly with the magic warrior class. Fortunately, Faerun is littered with bottles of alcohol to repurpose as bludgeoning tools.

Yu Nanba as the Druid

Yu Nanba

Nanba’s job among the Like a Dragon party members is, paradoxically, Homeless Guy. He’s been toughing it out on the streets of Yokohama, but in fights, he can hold his own with a combination of alcohol-fueled fire breath and pigeon attacks. Luckily, the fire-breath lines up with the all-Dragonborn party, but the pigeon allies suggest some affinity with nature. Who better than the Druid to call upon nature for help in fights? Plus, I’m sure he can summon a shillelagh in the shape of an umbrella, Nanba’s usual weapon of choice. Yes, a green Dragonborn should breathe acid but we don’t concern ourselves with details like that here.

Koichi Adachi as the Oathbreaker Paladin

Koichi Adachi

Adachi is Ichiban’s first ally when he’s released from prison, and he’s not shy about abusing his power as a cop to do the right thing. He’s also one of the strongest physical Like a Dragon party members and can take a beating. The plate-mail-wearing Paladin is the obvious class of choice for Adachi, though due to breaking his oath, he’ll naturally take the path of the Oathbreaker. It’s possible to restore your oath, but it’s not like he’s missing out. Sure, he lost his holy power but when you hit like a truck, do you really need it?

Tianyou Zhao as the Battle Master Fighter

Like A Dragon Part Members — Tianyou Zhao

Zhao’s one of the trickiest to figure out because his default job is Gangster. There’s a criminal background you can select but that’s not a class. Looking at his abilities though, it becomes clear that Zhao is something of a fencer type, wielding a scimitar-like blade while using techniques to increase his attack or defense. Clearly, Zhao is a dexterity Fighter, using his blade and martial arts moves to beat back his foes. As a Battle Master, he can trip up his enemies or parry their attacks to command the battlefield. Zhao is a cook too, so he can make dinner when the party rests.

Joongi Han as the Arcane Trickster Rogue

Like A Dragon Part Members — Joongi Han

Joongi Han is a Hitman who uses guns, knives, and various questionable substances to inflict damage and harmful status effects to deal with his targets. While the Assassin Rogue sounds like a better fit on paper, the Arcane Trickster has an array of spells to charm, knock out, or otherwise hinder his enemies. Additionally, they can learn the spell Disguise Self, which is somewhat important to Joongi Han. Plus, the garbage bag he usually wears is perfect for helping him sneak around at night.

Seonhee as the Assassin Rogue

Seonhee

Seonhee is one of the new party additions in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and her default class is Assassin. Living up to its name, her abilities are geared toward disarming and disabling her target before moving in for the kill. She’s also the leader of the criminal underground in Yokohama, so she can surely take a similar position in Faerun if there’s an opening. If there isn’t one, give her an hour or two, she’ll fix that.

Whether they’re in Hawaii or Faerun, Ichiban and his fellow Like a Dragon party members can handle themselves. Their job flexibility likely means they can roll with the punches. This begs the question though, what jobs would the Baldur’s Gate 3 companions take if they were thrust into Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth? I can absolutely picture Astarion as a cowboy.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
