Get Swept Away In First Trailer For ‘Twisters’

Following his Oscar-nominated Minari, director Lee Isaac Chung returns to build on a 90s favorite. Chung directs Twisters, a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister. The film continues the trend of revisiting older titles for revitalization. The original 1996 follows a pair of storm chasers who risk their lives testing an experimental weather alert system. Despite its initial critical dismissal, it’s become a millennial standby (probably due to how often it aired on cable in the 90s and early aughts).

Twisters comes with an all new cast, with Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos leading the charge. While there’s no official synopsis for the film yet, it’s safe to assume that Twisters will follow a similar path — though with what looks to be even more destruction. Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton star in the original with Edgar-Jones and Powell looking to take on similar roles. Powell is having a tremendous few years and Twisters is just another chance for him to assert his star power. Now, the characters continue to fit the the adrenaline junkie archetypes as they decide that they’re not just looking to face their fears, but to ride them.
