“Pokémon continues to capture the imaginations of longtime fans and new, and Pokémon Day reveals for 2025 and beyond are our way of celebrating with them by continuing to deliver the joy of Pokémon to Trainers around the world,” said Kenji Okubo, president of The Pokémon Company International.

“In addition to the reveal of Pokémon Champions and new introductions to the popular Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket app, we’re looking forward to a ‘Mega’ year as we prepare for the launch of the Pokémon Legends: Z-A video game featuring the mechanic, as well as the introduction of Mega Evolution Pokémon ex to the best-selling Pokémon TCG. To extend the global celebration, we’re especially looking forward to offering the Pokémon TCG in Latin American Spanish for the first time, as well as Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Champions. We wish a happy Pokémon Day to all!”

Here are the highlights from Pokémon Day 2025

Pokemon Presents all sorts of Pokemon goodies

Pokémon Champions has been revealed!

Pokémon Champions, a new game developed by The Pokémon Works in collaboration with GAME FREAK, continues the tradition of Trainers putting their skills against those of others from around the world. The goal is to allow core game-style battles to be enjoyed by more players than ever before.

Pokémon Champions will also be compatible with Pokémon HOME, the cloud service for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. This will allow Trainers to team up with Pokémon brought over from previous Pokémon games in addition to those they partner with in Pokémon Champions.

It will be available on the Nintendo Switch family of systems and mobile devices. Pokémon HOME compatibility allows players to use Pokémon from previous titles.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket celebrates 100 million downloads!

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket celebrates both Pokémon Day and surpassing 100 million downloads with the new Triumphant Light-themed booster pack, launching February 28, with Ranked Matches being added in March 2025.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game welcomes back Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, including Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex, in a brand-new Mega Evolution Series of expansions coming in 2025.

Pokémon Concierge is coming back this fall!

Pokémon Concierge returns with new episodes premiering exclusively on Netflix in September 2025. A teaser visual and test footage are now available, showcasing Pokémon that will appear in Pokémon Concierge for the first time.

Until March 9, 2025, Trainers can also now watch the first four episodes of Pokémon Concierge on Pokémon’s official YouTube channel.

Latin American Spanish is included in language expansion.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Champions will be playable in Latin American Spanish at launch, marking a new milestone in localization for the region. With the addition of Latin American Spanish, the Pokémon series will soon support 10 playable languages.

The globally popular Pokémon TCG will also soon expand language support to include Latin American Spanish with the launch of the next expansion, Scarlet & Violet—Journey Together. This will ensure that millions of fans can enjoy Pokémon in their regional language and connect with the global Pokémon community like never before.

Pokemon Legends: A-Z is going to be E-P-I-C!

Pokémon Legends Z-A logo

Scheduled for release in late 2025, and first revealed on Pokémon Day 2024, the Pokémon Legends: Z-A game is set in Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon. After arriving in Lumiose City, players will befriend a Pokémon that will become their first partner Pokémon: Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile.

During the announcements, the team explained how players will be able to explore wild zones, engage in real-time action battles, and more. We’ll dive in deep down below:

Make Pokémon your buddies when you explore different zones.

Players can catch wild Pokémon living in wild zones or out and about in Lumiose City by aiming a Poké Ball at them and letting it fly. Some Pokémon will flee immediately if they spot the player, meaning players should hide out of sight or approach from behind to make themselves harder to notice. Players can also battle Pokémon to lower their HP, making them easier to catch.

For the first time ever, we get real-time action battles.

In previous Pokémon video game series titles, Pokémon’s actions were turn-based. In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Trainers and their Pokémon will move around in real time during battles, and Pokémon will unleash their moves when their Trainers command them to. New gameplay mechanics include precise timing for swapping out Pokémon or using moves, the different lengths of time moves will take to launch, and the total area the moves will impact.

Lumiose City features new encounters for players.

While visiting Lumiose City, players will stay in an old hotel named Hotel Z and encounter the hotel’s owner, AZ—plus his partner Pokémon, Eternal Flower Floette, an unusual Floette that holds a black flower. This hotel will serve as players’ base of operations as they experience all sorts of adventures in Lumiose City alongside new and exciting characters, such as Urbain or Taunie—a new friend players will make throughout their adventures. The appearance players choose at the beginning of the game will determine which of the two they’ll meet.

Mega Evolution is introduced.

In Lumiose City, trainers will sometimes be able to see Pokémon undergo Mega Evolution—a kind of Evolution that transcends standard Evolution. Effectively using Mega Evolution will likely be key to victory in Pokémon battles.

New experiences and updates were also announced for various games and apps, including the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Sleep, Pokémon UNITE, Pokémon Masters EX, and Pokémon Café ReMix.

Fans can learn more about the latest announcements by viewing Pokémon Presents in its entirety on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.
